Any information or advice provided from volunteers should in no way substitute advice from your health professionals. If in doubt always seek advice from your GP or mental health services. Unless otherwise stated all our services are led by professionals and run by volunteers.
Calls are charged at national rate from a BT landline, other providers and mobile costs may vary. When a support volunteer is not available you may get through to an admin worker or answer phone. Please leave your name and number and a support volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. We will not leave any messages on your answer phone unless you have specifically asked us to do so. If we are unable to reach you by the third call we will not try to contact you again. This service is for emotional support and advice only, any message relating to website or other issues will not be responded to. If you do have a query about the website or other issue please email us.
Forums, chat room, blogs and journals
Although linked through BPDWORLD the mental health forums, abuse survivor’s forums, chat room, journals and blogs are licensed and owned by Joshua Cole. BPDWORLD helps to fund the running of the forums, chat, journals and blogs. Any money made through sponsorship and subscriptions goes back into BPDWORLD. Mini mods are members of the general public who use the forums and have offered to help out, they are not associated with BPDWORLD in any way. Terms and conditions for the forums, chat, journals and blogs are set and upheld by Joshua Cole as he sees fit and has no bearing on BPDWORLD. These terms can be found here.
Tickets and Live Support
We aim to answer all emails within 24hrs although due to volunteer availability and during busy periods this may vary. There is no set times that live support is online, every effort is made to make this available as much as possible. The Peer support department is managed by people who suffer from mental health issues, they are unable to offer support to anyone who is currently suicidal or have feelings of self harm. If you are experiencing these feelings please contact your mental health team, attend your local hospital or ring a helpline. Members of the peer support team are members of the general public who use the forums and have offered to help out, they are not associated with BPDWORLD in any way.
Assessments are made by qualified professionals who have relevant training in personality, eating and dissociative disorders. The assessments are in no way a diagnosis for these conditions. If you are looking for a formal diagnosis it is advised that you visit you GP or psychiatrist who can advise you further. It is our aim to deliver your results within 3 working days after recieving your questionnaire, although during busy periods and holidays this may take longer.
All of our counsellors are fully qualified and have experience in working with people with personality disorders. Free counselling is offered through BPDWORLD and in conjunction with Simple Complexities for those on low incomes, charges may apply for those who are working. Any fees are based on individual basis and will be discussed and agreed before or at the initial assessment.
Find a Therapist
The therapists listed in the find a therapist service have an interest or experience in working with personality disorders. Although we make every effort to check the qualifications of each individual and verify through their governing bodies websites it is ultimately the responsibility of the client to check before starting therapy. There is at least one therapist for each area listed on the website. The fee for this service also entitles the client to their initial appointment with the therapist of their choice free of charge; any subsequent sessions will be charged by the therapist and will be agreed upon at the initial assessment.
